Pattern Design: The Foundation of Every Good Hoodie
The pattern is the blueprint of your hoodie. A well-made pattern reduces fabric waste by 8 to 12 percent. It also ensures consistent sizing across every unit. Our pattern team uses digital grading for sizes XS through 3XL. This means each size follows exact proportional rules. Manual grading can cause 1 to 2 cm errors between sizes. Digital grading cuts that error to under 0.3 cm.
Many streetwear brands want oversized fits. Oversized hoodies need special pattern adjustments. The shoulder line must drop 3 to 5 cm below the natural shoulder. The sleeve cap needs a lower curve. Without these changes, the hoodie will bunch under the arms. Our pattern makers have handled over 500 oversized hoodie projects. We can adjust your pattern for any fit preference.

Hood Construction: Balancing Shape and Comfort
The hood is the signature feature of any streetwear hoodie. A poor hood lies flat and looks cheap. A good hood holds its shape and frames the face well. We use a three-panel hood construction for most streetwear styles. This creates a natural curve that sits well on the head.
Hood depth matters for function and style. Standard hood depth is 28 to 32 cm for size M. Streetwear styles often use 34 to 38 cm for a deeper, more dramatic look. The hood opening should measure 48 to 52 cm around. Too small and it feels tight. Too large and it slips off the shoulders.
We reinforce the hood with a 2x2 rib or cotton lining at the neckline. This prevents stretching after repeated wear. Our factory can add drawstring grommets in metal, plastic, or fabric-covered options. We also offer hidden drawstring channels for a cleaner look.
Our hood construction service includes sample approval before bulk production. You will receive a physical sample to check fit, shape, and feel. Only after your sign-off do we move to mass production.
Pocket and Placket Details That Last
The kangaroo pocket is standard on most pullover hoodies. Pocket placement affects both look and function. The pocket top should sit 18 to 22 cm below the neckline. The pocket opening should be 24 to 28 cm wide. This gives enough room for hands without looking bulky.
We reinforce pocket corners with bar tacks. Each bar tack adds 8 to 10 stitches at stress points. This prevents pocket tearing during normal use. Some brands prefer hidden side pockets instead. We can produce zippered side pockets for a more technical look.
For zip-up hoodies, the placket needs extra attention. We use a 3 cm wide self-fabric placket. The zipper is centered with a 0.5 cm margin on each side. This prevents zipper waviness after washing. We use YKK zippers by default for better durability.

Sleeve and Cuff Engineering
Sleeve fit can make or break a hoodie. Streetwear styles often use dropped shoulders and wider sleeves. The sleeve width at the bicep should be 28 to 34 cm for a relaxed fit. Slim fits use 24 to 28 cm.
Cuffs come in several options. Ribbed cuffs are most common. We use 2x2 rib knit with 5 to 7 cm height. The rib should recover to its original length after 100 stretch cycles. We test every batch of rib fabric for recovery rate. Cuffs that fail the test are rejected before production.
Some streetwear brands prefer raw-edge cuffs or thumb holes. We can produce both. Raw-edge cuffs need a 1 cm folded hem inside to prevent fraying. Thumb holes require reinforced stitching around the opening.
Our sleeve and cuff service includes fit testing on real body forms. We check range of motion, cuff tightness, and overall comfort. This ensures your hoodie looks good and feels good during wear.
Bottom Hem and Side Vents
The bottom hem finishes the hoodie silhouette. Most streetwear hoodies use a ribbed hem matching the cuffs. Hem height is typically 5 to 7 cm. The rib should have 30 to 40 percent stretch recovery. This keeps the hem in shape after washing.
Side vents are popular for longer streetwear hoodies. A 5 to 8 cm side vent allows better movement. We reinforce the vent top with a bar tack or small gusset. Without reinforcement, the vent tears easily.
Some brands prefer a raw cut hem for a distressed look. We can produce this with a 0.5 cm overlock stitch inside. The overlock prevents excessive fraying while keeping the raw aesthetic.
We offer hem customization as a standard option. Choose ribbed, raw, split, or banded hems. Our team will advise which option works best for your fabric and style.
Production Efficiency: How Design Choices Affect Lead Time
Design complexity directly affects production time. A basic pullover hoodie takes 12 to 15 minutes per unit to sew. A zip-up with multiple pockets takes 20 to 25 minutes. Embroidery or print adds 5 to 10 minutes per unit. These numbers matter when planning your delivery schedule.
Our standard lead time is 10 to 15 days for bulk orders under 500 pieces. Orders over 1000 pieces need 15 to 20 days. Complex designs may add 3 to 5 days. We always confirm the lead time before production starts.
We maintain 5 production lines with 80 total sewing operators. Each line produces 300 to 400 hoodies per day. This capacity lets us handle orders from 50 to 5000 pieces. Our minimum order quantity is just 50 pieces per style.
Our project managers will review your design and give an accurate production timeline. We also offer rush production for urgent orders. Rush service can cut lead time by 3 to 5 days for an additional fee.
Quality Check Before Shipping
Every hoodie passes through our quality control department. We inspect 100 percent of units for stitching, sizing, and fabric defects. Units with defects are repaired or rejected. Our AQL standard is 2.5 for major defects and 4.0 for minor defects.
We also work with third-party inspection companies like ASAHI・LINK. Many of our European and Japanese clients request ASAHI・LINK inspections before shipment. The inspection covers fabric weight, color fastness, stitching density, and finished measurements. We pass over 98 percent of third-party inspections on the first attempt.
After inspection, each hoodie is folded and packed in a polybag. We can add hang tags, size labels, and custom packaging as requested. Cartons are labeled with PO number, size breakdown, and total quantity.
